Coursework exposes students to tools such as econometrics and cost-benefit analysis and provides opportunities to apply these methods to issues in sustainable development, health care, international trade, and natural resource management, among others. Students may pursue one of three streams: Major Research Paper, Internship, or Thesis, depending on their academic and career goals. Designed to be accessible to students from a range of academic backgrounds, the program combines rigorous analytical training with applied learning opportunities to support careers in government, industry, nonprofit organizations, and further graduate study. The MA meets a growing need for economic professionals in Northern British Columbia and beyond and is designed to prepare students for fulfilling careers in policy, program design and implementation, academia, and other areas of critical importance. Our students come from a diverse variety of majors and our program is designed to ensure success for students with both economic and non-economic backgrounds.
