Entry requirements
Carleton assesses international undergraduate applicants on the secondary-school qualification of their own system; the Undergraduate Calendar states admission requirements are expressed against the Ontario High School System and that an overall average of at least 70 per cent is normally required to be considered, that holding the minimum only establishes eligibility, that all programs have limited enrolment, and that cut-off averages are set each year program by program and may be considerably higher than the minimum. Additional admission material is required for this programme: Carleton lists Architectural Studies, Industrial Design, Information Technology (Interactive Multimedia and Design), Nursing, Music and Social Work as requiring a portfolio or supplementary application in addition to the regular application (application deadline 1 March, portfolio/supplementary deadline 5 March). Source: https://admissions.carleton.ca/requirements/additional-admission-requirements/ · English: IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0); TOEFL iBT 86; PTE Academic 55; Duolingo English Test 120 · English test waiver: Carleton waives the English test where the applicant can show English-language education: full-time study for the past three years at a Canadian high school where English was the primary language of instruction, or at a high school, college or university in a country where English is the primary language and instruction was predominantly in English (Carleton publishes a list of eligible countries/territories). Accepted in place of IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/Duolingo: AP English Language & Composition or English Literature & Composition grade 4+; IB Higher or Standard Level English A: Literature or Language and Literature grade 4+ (Higher Level English B is not accepted); GCSE/IGCSE/GCE Ordinary Level English grade B (6) or GCE A/AS Level/AICE English grade C (IGCSE English as an Additional Language is not accepted); two years of full-time study in an Advanced Diploma or Applied Degree at a Canadian public college; or one year of full-time study at a Canadian public university. Source: https://admissions.carleton.ca/applicant-type/international-applicants/ · Deposit: CAD 2,000.00 international tuition fee deposit, payable after accepting the offer of admission. Carleton states it is not an additional expense but a prepayment of part of the tuition fee. It is not refundable unless the study permit is refused before the start of the term named in the offer, and Carleton requires proof of the refusal in advance of that term. The deposit must be paid before Carleton will issue the provincial attestation letter (PAL) needed for the study permit application; the PAL appears in Carleton360 roughly 7-10 business days after the deposit is received.
