For current engineers, this program will increase knowledge specific to their areas of expertise and will strengthen advanced technical and professional development skills. Certificates are awarded in any of the seven specializations: Machine Learning Engineering, Software Engineering, Process Engineering Sustainability, Process Simulation Analytics, Mechatronics Engineering and Reliability Engineering, Predictive Maintenance and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS). New! Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) Specialization. This is our newest specialization. Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) has emerged as an important pathway to reducing carbon emissions from existing energy systems, with Canada developing large-scale projects. As this pathway continues to develop, the labour market will need to expand to meet Canada’s ambitious goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. An exciting new partnership involving Carbon Management Canada (CMC), the University of Calgary, the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), and geoLOGIC Systems Ltd. is aiming to meet that workforce need. A unique aspect of this graduate certificate is the opportunity for students to access CMC’s field research station in Newell County, Alberta. Thanks to funding provided through the Talent Acceleration and Career Training in Low-Carbon Energy (TACTILE) project, two cohorts of 56 Canadian applicants can receive full scholarships to cover tuition, program, general and supplementary fees, with the first cohort starting in January 2026 and a second cohort starting in September 2026.
